My name is Madelyn Houston and I am a sophomore at the University of New England. I am studying to receive an Environmental Science Bachelor’s degree. I am from a small town in New Hampshire called Hopkinton that is surrounded by woods, farms, and hayfields. While I am at home, I am almost always sitting outside reading a book, swimming and tanning at the lake with my friends, or working on my family’s dairy farm. I came to beautiful Biddeford, Maine for the UNE’s amazing schooling and to be close to the ocean. I like UNE’s location because it is far enough away from home so that I can feel independent but also close enough to home that I can drive home to visit my family in just a two hour car ride. When I am not studying, I am playing the piano, painting, drawing, watching movies, reading, and hanging out with my friends here at college. In the future, I plan to complete my next four years of schooling and obtain a degree in Environmental Science. Going onto graduate school is definitely in the cards for me, but I am not sure specifically what I will use the degree for. I do know for sure that I want to use my schooling to help the environment and people alike.
